This Privacy Policy explains how Teachery, a doing-business-as name of Really Awesome Company, Inc. ("Teachery," "we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, stores, and shares personal information when you visit teachery.co, create a Teachery account, or use our services (together, the "Services"). It also describes your privacy rights and choices.

Teachery helps creators build and deliver courses, products, memberships, communities, and related pages. This policy covers information about creators and people who help manage their accounts, as well as information about students, members, buyers, and website visitors processed through Teachery. Third-party websites or services you choose to use may have their own privacy policies.

1. Information we collect

Account and profile information. When you register or use Teachery, we collect information such as your name or username, email address, login credentials, account settings, and information you add to your profile. We also collect information you provide when contacting support.

Creator content and customer information. We store information creators upload or enter into the Services, including courses, products, memberships, communities, landing pages, checkout pages, text, images, files, and messages. We also process information about creators' students, members, and buyers, including names, email addresses, purchases, enrollments, access rights, and related activity, as needed to deliver the Services.

Technical and usage information. We may automatically collect IP addresses, browser and device information, cookies, page requests, usage events, and information about how the Services are accessed and used. We use this information to operate, troubleshoot, secure, and improve Teachery, including detecting spam, malware, fraud, and abuse.

Communications. We collect information you provide in communications with us and may receive information about delivery or engagement with emails we send, such as whether an email was opened, when supported by the email service.

Information from other services. When you connect or interact with third-party services, we may receive information required to enable that connection or manage related transactions. Those services also process information under their own privacy notices.

2. How we use information

We use personal information to create and manage accounts; provide, maintain, personalize, and improve the Services; host and deliver creator content; support purchases and access to products; process and reconcile transactions; send account, security, support, and other service-related communications; detect and prevent fraud or misuse; troubleshoot technical problems; and comply with legal obligations or enforce our terms.

We may use aggregated or de-identified information to understand how people use Teachery and improve the Services. We may also send occasional product communications where permitted by law. You can unsubscribe from optional marketing emails, but may still receive essential account or service messages.

Where applicable privacy law requires a legal basis for processing, our bases may include performing our contract with you, complying with legal obligations, pursuing legitimate interests such as securing and improving the Services, and obtaining consent where required. For information a creator enters about their own customers, the creator may be responsible for determining the appropriate legal basis and providing any required notices.

3. Payments

Payment card details are collected and handled by payment processors rather than stored by Teachery as complete card numbers. Teachery may receive transaction-related information such as names, email addresses, payment status, amounts, refunds, and other details needed to operate the Services, manage accounts, investigate fraud, or resolve payment issues.

Creators who sell products through Teachery receive payments using their connected Stripe accounts. Stripe processes buyers' payment information under its own terms and privacy policies. Where Teachery charges creators for subscriptions or other paid plans, the applicable payment processor handles those transactions.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to recognize browsers, maintain sessions, support account functionality and security, remember preferences, and understand use of the Services. Some cookies are necessary for Teachery to work properly.

You can manage cookies through your browser settings. Disabling certain cookies may affect your ability to log in or use parts of Teachery. Third-party websites and services may use their own cookies and technologies, which are governed by their privacy policies.

5. How information is shared

We do not sell personal information. We share information with service providers that help us operate Teachery, as described in section 7, and with people or services you authorize through your use of Teachery.

Information you choose to publish. When a creator publishes a public page or otherwise shares content through Teachery, that content and any personal information included in it may be visible to others, shared beyond Teachery, or indexed by search engines. Creators should avoid publishing information they do not intend to make public. Account and customer information may also be visible to authorized account collaborators and to the creator responsible for the content or purchase.

Legal, security, and business needs. We may access, preserve, or disclose information as reasonably necessary to comply with law or legal process; enforce our terms; respond to support requests; investigate fraud, security issues, or misuse; or protect the rights, property, and safety of Teachery, users, and others. Information may also be transferred as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, sale of assets, reorganization, or similar transaction, subject to applicable law.

We may share aggregated or de-identified statistics that do not reasonably identify an individual.

6. Artificial intelligence

Teachery includes an AI assistant that helps creators and the people they invite to manage their accounts. The assistant is not available to students, buyers, or members, and it does not communicate with them directly. The assistant is enabled by default for new accounts, but you can disable it at any time in your account settings.

The AI assistant runs on a private AI model hosted on Teachery's private Hetzner servers. All conversations, messages, account information, and data processed by the assistant remain within Teachery's private infrastructure hosted by Hetzner. We do not send AI assistant conversations or customer information to Google Gemini, OpenAI, Anthropic, or other third-party AI model providers for text-based AI assistance.

When you interact with the assistant, it may access information within your Teachery account to fulfill your requests. This can include your courses, products, memberships, communities, landing pages, checkout pages, and customer information such as names, email addresses, purchases, and access permissions. This information is processed privately by our hosted AI model and is not shared with external AI model providers.

AI image generation and editing: When you ask Teachery to generate an image or modify an existing image, we use Google's Gemini image generation models. Only the information necessary to fulfill your image request is sent to Google. This may include your written image description, images you upload for editing, and reference images you select, such as a course header or an image attached to your conversation. Regular AI assistant conversations and unrelated account or customer data are not sent to Google for image generation.

Google's paid Gemini API services are subject to Google's applicable data handling and privacy commitments, including its policies regarding the use of customer data for AI model training. Teachery does not authorize Google to use submitted image generation data to train its AI models.

The AI assistant operates within your own Teachery account and can help create, edit, and manage your content and customer information. It cannot charge customers or initiate new payments. Certain sensitive actions, including issuing refunds, removing customer access, or modifying customer purchases and permissions, require your explicit confirmation before the assistant proceeds.

Chat history and retention: Your conversations with the assistant are stored within Teachery's infrastructure according to the Keep chat history for setting in your account. You can change this setting or clear your conversation history at any time.

Teachery may also retain records of AI assistant requests and responses for troubleshooting, security, and service improvement. These records are retained for no more than 30 days days, or for a shorter period when your selected chat history retention setting requires it. The retention period may change, and this policy will reflect the current maximum.

Clearing your AI assistant chat history deletes the associated conversation and request records from Teachery's active systems. Deleting your Teachery account also deletes associated AI assistant conversations and records, subject to applicable legal retention obligations and backup deletion schedules.

7. Companies that process your information

We use other companies to help deliver and secure Teachery. These providers receive the information needed to perform their respective services. We do not sell personal information to them. Providers process information under the agreements and applicable terms governing their services, which may also require limited processing for security, compliance, or legal purposes.

Google is the AI model provider described in this list. Other providers listed here may process information for their stated infrastructure, payment, delivery, or diagnostic functions. If we add or materially change service providers, we may update this policy and related data-processing documentation.

8. International data transfers

Teachery and its service providers may process or store personal information in the United States and other countries, which may have different data protection laws from those where you live. Where required for transfers of personal data from the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, we use appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and the applicable UK addendum, as described in our data-processing arrangements.

9. Data security and retention

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, and disclosure. No internet service or storage system can guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for protecting your password, devices, and access to your account.

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Services, maintain accounts, meet legal and accounting obligations, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, and address security concerns. Retention periods vary by type of information. The specific AI chat and AI request-record retention rules are described in section 6.

10. Your choices and privacy rights

You can review and update many account details in your settings. You can opt out of optional marketing emails using the unsubscribe link in those messages, and you can manage browser cookies through your browser settings. You can also choose not to provide optional information, although some features may not work without information required to provide them.

Depending on where you live and applicable law, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of your personal information; to object to or restrict certain processing; and to withdraw consent where processing depends on consent. You may also have the right to data portability. We may ask you to verify your identity before fulfilling a request, and some requests may be subject to legal exceptions.

If you are in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, you also have the right to make a complaint to your applicable data protection authority. Where Teachery processes information on behalf of a creator, a student or buyer may need to contact that creator first about information held in the creator's Teachery account; we will assist as required under applicable law and our agreements.

Florida residents may request information concerning disclosures of certain customer information for direct marketing purposes to the extent provided by applicable Florida law, using the contact details below.

11. Deleting your account

You can request deletion of your Teachery account and associated personal information through your account settings or by contacting our support team. We may need to verify that you have authority to delete the account. When your account is deleted, information may be removed or de-identified subject to records we must or are permitted to retain for legal, security, accounting, or dispute-resolution purposes and applicable backup retention periods.

Content you previously made public or shared with others may remain available outside Teachery, including in copies saved by other people or indexed by search engines. Section 6 explains how deleting an account affects AI chats and AI request records.

12. Changes to this policy

We may revise this Privacy Policy as our Services and practices change. We will update the "last updated" date when we do so. If changes materially affect how we collect or use personal information, we may provide additional notice through Teachery or by email where appropriate or required by law.

13. Contact

If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, want to exercise a privacy right, or need assistance deleting your account, please contact Teachery support.
